Description

This year the University is offering 86 PhD scholarships in the following areas:

Eligibility

The call for scholarships is open to Italian and international students fulfilling the following main criteria:
  • Having completed an Italian laurea magistrale or equivalent degree from outside Italy within 31 October 2015;
  • Born after 31 October 1985;
  • Have not been sentenced to prison for more than three years in final judgment;
  • Have not been subject to the disciplinary measure of “expulsion” as specified in article 20 of the didactic and internal regulations of the SNS;
  • Are not in possession of a research doctorate issued by an Italian university, and in any case have never  benefitted from a scholarship to attend a research doctorate course in Italy.

Scholarships

All students admitted to the PhD program will receive full financial support (tuition, fees, and a cost of living stipend EUR 14,187  per year, plus free meals). Students can keep the support provided they are making satisfactory progress during their PhD programme. The University will assign further funding for their research activity and travel.

How to apply?

Deadline for application is 31 August 2015.
Students interested in applying for the PhD programme at SNS should prepare the following documents in PDF format:
  1. Copy of a valid identification document, passport for non-European Union (EU) citizens;
  2. Recent Europass CV;
  3. Copy of the laurea magistrale (master) degree thesis, possibly with an English abstract. Candidates who have not yet completed their thesis, or whose thesis was in a language other than English or Italian, must present an extended abstract in English;
  4. Diploma supplement or similar documentation indicating the courses completed and marks and the final degree results obtained;
  5. Copies of any publications;
  6. Candidate’s research proposal.
These documents must be in English or Italian or accompanied by a translation into one of these languages.
Candidates will also have to provide the name and email address of at least two experts working in the candidate’s field(s) from whom the SNS may request a reference letter.

Balkan SAYS – Security Architecture Youth Seminar

Description

The Euro-Atlantic Council of Slovenia is a voluntary, non-profit and non-governmental interest and expert association. It aim is to contribute to an active role played by the Republic of Slovenia in ensuring peace, security, and democratic stability in the Euro-Atlantic area through the EU andNATO. In order to accomplish it is goals, the Council acts either alone or in cooperation with NATO, EU, Slovenian governmental institutions, and other partner organisations, associations and institutions, such as the Slovenian Association for International Relations, Pan-European Movement, Friedrich-Ebert Stiftung, etc.
Balkan SAYS-Security Architecture Youth Seminar is a youth oriented international seminar. It mission is to connect students and young professional who will discuss important security topics with distinguished speakers and search for fresh views and new solutions to the most pressing issues of the Balkan region.
The seminar is designed in the form of panel discussions and workshops focusing on the following topics:
  • Integration of the Western Balkan countries into the Euro-Atlantic Organizations;
  • Violent extremism and radicalism;
  • Energy security in the Western Balkans;
  • Ukrainian crisis and its implications for the European security.

Eligibility

The organizers are looking for 40 exceptional students and young professionals with diverse professional and academic backgrounds. The Balkan SAYS – Security Architecture Youth Seminar is intended for students, young professionals, youth leaders and active young people who are:
  • 20 – 35 years of age;
  • Citizens of EU or NATO member countries or Partnership for Peace (PfP) partner countries;
  • With diverse range of experience and skills, particularly focusing on the security sector and familiar with the seminar topics;
  • Able to fluently communicate and work in English language;
  • Open to enrich their knowledge and awareness regarding the security and cooperation in the Balkans with a special emphasis to the issues of youth;
  • Committed to prepare themselves for the conference, and be able to actively participate during the whole duration of the conference.

Costs

Participation fee: EUR 60.
The participation fee includes: 3 nights accommodation in shared double rooms (with arrival on 14 October 2015 and departure on 17 October 2015), meals, local transportation and conference materials.
Please be aware that the participation fee is non-refundable. All costs regarding the bank transfer of the participation fee (Transfer fees) are to be covered by the applicant.
Partial travel reimbursement will be available for selected participants upon presentation of travel receipts and invoices. The total amount of available reimbursement will be decided on a case by case bases.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Balkan action/2015 Youth Academy is a training and networking event for 30 young people in the Balkans. The Balkan action/2015 Youth Academy will be held in Struga, Macedonia from 1-4 August 2015.
If you are considering yourself a young leader, influential social media activist and young journalist from the participating countries you are kindly invited to be part of this special opportunity in the youth action/2015 SDGs training academy.
The role of the academy is to build capacities on SDGs, to motivate and engage the young multipliers from Balkans in the action/2015 and the further mobilisation of the communities in SDGs and related processes such as COP21. In addition, during the Academy, the mobilization strategy, both for the national and regional level, for the International Youth Day and United Nations General Assembly will be developed, as well as the Draft on the Action/2015 Western Balkans Youth Declaration on SDGs, including advocacy strategy for adoption of the Declaration by the National Youth Councils in the region.
The Balkan action/2015 Youth Academy is organised by the Centre for Human Rights and Development Studies (CHRDS), Center for Intercultural Dialogues and Beyond Barriers, and it is a part of the action/2015 campaign www.action2015.org.

Internship i paguar për studentët e diplomuar të komunitetit Rom

Description

The Roma Initiatives Office invites young Roma university graduates from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia to apply for 12-month internships in institutions and organizations that work on European Union integration. These internships will provide learning opportunities and incentives to talented young Roma who in the near future will be able to contribute to more efficient and targeted policy design and implementation. Applicants should identify host organizations by themselves and negotiate the terms of their internships.
In addition to learning expectations, applicants should agree with the host organizations about their roles and tasks during the internship as well as about expected deliverables. Host organizations should provide interns with work and learning opportunities regarding EU enlargement. Host organizations can be public, private, or third-sector organizations—preference will be given to internships in public institutions. Candidates should commit to the internship on a full-time basis, Mondays through Fridays, starting from September 2015. Interns will be required to report on their learning experience according to guidelines provided by the Roma Initiatives Office. They also should be available to participate in training, conferences, and interviews to which they are invited by the Roma Initiatives Office.


Applicants must:

  • Be of Roma origin;
  • Be citizens of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, or Serbia;
  • Have a university degree (BA or higher degree);
  • Be no older than 35 years of age;
  • Be willing to learn about EU integration and enlargement issues;
  • Have one to three years of experience working on Roma inclusion issues;
  • Have work experience in government institutions or Roma NGOs;
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills in English (knowledge of other languages in the region is an advantage);
  • Have the ability to complete tasks in timely fashion with minimal supervision, both as individuals and as members of a team.

Remuneration

The monthly stipend shall not exceed more than USD 600 for applicants from Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia and USD 500 for applicants from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Kosovo. The internship award will not cover mentorship costs incurred by the host organization.

  • Two letters of recommendation (from previous employers, educational institutions, recognized public authorities or individuals, etc.)
  • Letter of agreement from the host organization, signed by the appointed mentor or supervisor, including a brief learning plan and the expected results from the internship;
  • Personal action plan.
The Roma Initiatives Office will interview all shortlisted candidates by phone or Skype. All candidates interviewed will be notified about the results of the selection process.
